Today I gave each group of students 20 minutes to research part of atomic theory: the atom, the nucleus, the proton, the neutron, and the electron. They then presented their research in class and I demoed a spectrum tube as an example of a cathode ray. I was my first time doing it with out lecture. It wasn’t entirely successful but lead to a discussion afterword. I’ll follow up with a video lesson that I made to clear misconceptions. Next is the PHET atom building simulation.
