Day 39 – Measuring the speed of light with chocolate and marshmallows

To day we calculates the speed of light using chocolate chips, marshmallows, rulers and a microwave. I removed the rotator from the microwave and we nuked the chocolate for 25 s and the marshmallows for 15 s. Then measuring the distance between soft spots gave us 1/2 wavelength. Then using the frequency off the microwave an the wavelength you can get the speed of light! Some kids got within 2% of the real value.
