Day 9 – Making Magic Models

While we finished out mass lab, I took a minute to discuss models with my students. To start I wanted something seemingly simple that they could collect data about an would blow their minds. Enter the Magic Octagon

After taking a couple data points, everyone agreed we could predict where it would be next. We could describe the movement even if they didn’t know how it worked. They made their own model and we were on to modeling atoms…
