We wrapped up unit one today, and it’s time to reflect. There was a lot to do in this unit. We introduced particle model, taught histograms, meaning of slope, significant figures, calculating volume, density, conversion factors, and sources of error. It took about four weeks to lay this foundation. That didn’t even include all of the modeling activities.
Things I liked most:
We spend most of the time taking and analyzing data.

Combining diagrammatic, written, graphing, and algebraic approaches.
Things that were challenging:
Students struggled calculating volumes of regular prisms.
