Day 31 – Using Phet Gas Properties for Diffusion

Students white boarded dye in watch activity today. There are still a few students that default to a continuous view of matter, but we had a few more small discussions and things got back on track. Take a look below. We followed up using the phet. I started by putting one particle in and asking them to describe how it moved. I added a few more and had them describe again. Then I added 200 light species. With all of those particles bouncing around I added one heavy species and we followed its motion. Finally I added ten heavy particles, and we talked about how that motion related to our dye experiment. Finally we played with temperature watching ten heavy enter and diffuse.
